Stacy: Day 6 - The game of 'Find the Yellow Arrow' truly begins

And, there was some...... shall we say 'excitement' along The Way..

But first... we finished up playing tourist in Porto by having Mass in the Cathedral. Our pilgrimage officially began with receiving the Pilgrim's Blessing at the conclusion of Mass.

What a gorgeous church!

Kim and I climbed several flights of wow old, steep, stone steps to get to the roof.

Of course, what important building in Porto is without the gorgeous tiles!? ((None))

From there, we went back to our hotel to gather our luggage, and ourselves, for the trip to Valença, Portugal, where we would be unceremoniously dropped off near an awesome, fairly complete ruin of a Roman fortress.

It took us several minutes to adjust it packs, but we easily found our first Yellow Camino Arrows! The fort, and the nearby city, established outside the fort, are lovely!

After finding our first traditional GeoCache in Portugal (Kim and I had completed virtuals and earth caches), we made our way to the border of Portugal and Spain on a metal bridge. These bridges are sturdy, but definitely sway some.

As I stopped to take that cool photo, above, with the view through the diamonds, a train passed above us. Turn down your volume for the video... If my mom hadn't stopped to take a photo when she did, then I wouldn't have stopped to take that 'diamond photo,' and we never would have caught this on camera! Lol!!!

After that excitement, we hurried off of the bridge! Our first steps onto Spanish soil (and not simply Spanish Air). Into the city of Tui we go!

We walked to our first Spanish hotel, cleaned up for dinner, walked around the hotel grounds, and went to bed (not exactly in that order).

But. GUYS. This meal I ate. It was one of the best meals I've ever had in my life. The photo isn't much, unfortunately.

White the hotel can accommodate gluten free, as usual, there isn't much. I had hoped some of their Iberian hams would be, and I ordered one!

Iberian ham comes from black pigs (or was it black-footed?). Regardless, they eat a diet solely of acorns, and these hams came highly recommended by a gluten free website I found.

IT WAS A NEAR-RELIGIOUS EXPERIENCE!

A delicious end to an exciting day!

Tomorrow is our longest day, and I must sleep... zzzz
