Kim: Day 13 Aug 1st
Yesterday we started our day deep underground, in a cave - actually in Carlsbad Caverns, taking the King's Palace tour. Last time I was here I was 14 - it hasn't changed a bit!
Then we headed back to Texas, and stopped at Guadalupe Mountains National Park - taking in the views of Guadalupe Peak and El Capitain and walking the nature trail at the base of the mountain.
Back in Tx and we're still several days from the end of our trip (Day 16) - we're spending the next 3 days exploring the Fort Davis area, joined by my parents. After settling into our hotel, we headed to the McDonald Observatory for the evening. We participated in a Twilight Lecture and the Star Party. The clouds cleared, giving us a beautiful night sky for awhile, then the full moon rose and totally illuminated the area, casting shadows and making great moon viewing, but not so great star viewing.
